Yesterday, Sony released their firmware update to Version 2.0, codenamed “Masamune”. It brought some new features, but apparently also caused grief with many gamers.
Connection problems with the PlayStation Network are by now almost a classic. Several users report that after installing the update, they aren’t able to log into PSN anymore. Additionally the new YouTube upload feature doesn’t work for many gamers, just as the new music player that accesses USB storage devices.
Some PS4 owners also report that the console won’t wake up from “Rest Mode” (formerly called “Standby Mode”). In that case, the only method is to revive the machine by enabling the safe mode: When the PS4 is powered off, press and hold the Power Button for seven seconds (see the official FAQ for further reference).
According to Videogamer, Sony has acknowledged the issues and assured that they’re working on a solution. However, fixing the bugs may take a while as Sony claims to still need more information.
